Locue
Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 31, 2026
Locue helps you create reminders that trigger at or near places you choose. This policy explains what information Locue uses, where it is stored, and the choices available to you.
Who is responsible
Locue is provided by the individual developer of Locue ("we", "us", or "our"). For privacy questions or requests, contact nexche@gmail.com.
Information Locue uses
Location information
If you grant location permission, Locue uses your device's location to center the map when requested and to trigger arrival or departure reminders. Location monitoring can continue in the background while an enabled location reminder needs it. Live nearby-place reminders can use location updates while active. Locue uses location for these features; the current app does not keep a route or location-history log on our servers.
Location reminders also contain the place coordinates and alert radius you select. Google Maps Platform and Google Play services provide map, place-search, and geofencing functionality. When you use a map or search for places, Google may receive information needed to provide that service, such as search text, a map position or search center, and the requested radius. Google's handling of this information is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and applicable Google Maps Platform terms.
Reminder and preference information
Locue stores reminder details such as titles, place names and coordinates, radius, alert type, schedule, notes or checklist items, map and travel preferences, and alert settings. These details are stored on your device so reminders can work locally.
Frequent contacts
If you choose to add a frequent contact, Locue stores the name and phone number you enter on your device. Locue does not read your address book. Contact details are not included in Locue's cloud backup. When you attach a contact to a reminder, that reminder can show a message action that opens your messaging app with a suggested recipient and message. Locue does not send the message for you.
Google sign-in and cloud backup
Google sign-in and Firebase cloud backup are optional. If configured and enabled, Firebase Authentication processes the sign-in and Locue stores reminder records in a Firestore collection associated with your Firebase user ID. The backup may include reminder details, coordinates, schedule, notes, checklist and alert settings, and the contact message text. Locue does not upload your saved contact list or its names and phone numbers. Google and Firebase process information under their own privacy terms, including Google's Privacy Policy and Firebase's privacy and security information.
Signing out stops cloud synchronization but does not delete your local reminders or the reminders already backed up to your account.
Diagnostics and payment information
The current app code does not include an advertising or analytics SDK, and it does not process in-app purchases. Google or other service providers may process operational or diagnostic information as part of providing their services, under their own terms.
How we use information
Locue uses the information above to:
- create, display, edit, and remove reminders;
- monitor locations and show local notifications when a reminder condition is met;
- search for places and display maps;
- prepare a message action for a contact you selected; and
- synchronize reminders to your private account when you enable cloud backup.
Where information is stored and who receives it
Reminder data and saved contacts are stored locally on your device. Android device backup settings may also back up app data at the operating-system level.
If you enable cloud backup, reminder data is sent to Firebase/Cloud Firestore for storage and synchronization. Your Google account information is processed by Google sign-in and Firebase Authentication to authenticate that account. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Google Maps Platform and Google Play services receive information as needed to provide maps, place search, location, and geofencing features. Locue does not operate a separate location-history server.
Retention and deletion
You can remove individual reminders in the app. When signed in, reminder changes synchronize to Firestore; a reminder removed from the device is removed from the backed-up reminder collection during synchronization. Signing out alone does not remove cloud data. You can clear local app data or uninstall Locue to remove locally stored data, subject to Android backup and restore settings.
Locue does not currently provide an in-app account-deletion control. To request deletion of cloud reminder data or ask a privacy question, contact nexche@gmail.com and include the Google account used for Locue. Do not send passwords or authentication codes. You can also manage or revoke Google account access through your Google Account permissions.
Your choices
- You can manage location and notification permissions in Android settings. Turning off location access or location services can prevent location reminders from working.
- You can use Locue without signing in; cloud backup is optional.
- You can edit or remove reminders and contacts in the app.
- You can sign out to stop future cloud synchronization.
- You can contact us to ask about access, correction, or deletion requests that apply to you under local law.
Security
We use Firebase Authentication and account-scoped Firestore rules for the optional reminder backup. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so please protect access to your device and Google account.
Children's privacy
Locue is not designed specifically for children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through Locue, contact us at nexche@gmail.com so we can review the request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Locue's features or data practices change. We will update the effective date above when a revised policy is published.
